Rotorua Alpaca Show 2024

Everyone is welcome to the show and the BBQ after. There are no entry fees.
There are no tickets or covid pass required for entry.
BREED JUDGING: The show will start at 9am. So, if you could have your animals penned by 8.30 please. The gates will open at 7.30am. Please report to the chief stewards desk to collect your exhibitor numbers and report any scratching.
Mary-Ann and Mark will be making sure the show runs smoothly. Please see them if you have any concerns.
We are in our usual spot over the bridge and on the left.
The Western riding club is having a competition the same weekend. They will be out the front before the bridge. So please be mindful of vehicles stock and people when entering the show grounds.
FOOD: The Agrodome Cafe will be the only place available to purchase coffee food and drinks.
Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket and we can get together under the trees for our lunch.
Please bring plenty of water in case it is a hot day. There are taps for stock water.
Remember there is no shade for the alpacas. You're welcome to bring umbrellas or gazebos.
DRESS: No alpaca stud logos to be worn in the show ring.
After the show you are invited to Taplin's farm at 250 Endean Rd Paradise Valley, for a BBQ. Sausages, meat patties and salad. You're welcome, but required, to bring any food. BYO DRINKS. We (i.e Bruce) will have the BBQ humming by 7pm. Jillian will be there. So a chance to chat to her.
If you need any alpaca accommodation, please call or txt Denise on 027 500 5016. Brenda and Ivor are happy for people to leave alpacas at their place also.

We are very pleased to announce that Jillian Elwers has agreed to judge the Rotorua show 2024. She is very excited to come and judge at the Rotorua show. There will be a chance to chat with Jillian after the show at a BBQ to be held at the farm of Denise and Bruce Taplin (250 Endean Road RD2 Ngongotaha Valley Rotorua).
This will be a stand alone show as the Rotorua A&P have moved their show to early December. At this new date in December we put on an alpaca display with help from Brenor Alpaca - Brenda and Ivor Gainsford, Surico Alpaca - Sue Richards and her grandchildren, Greenbank Alpaca - Ruth Hutton and Pete Jackson and Bruden Alpaca - Denise Taplin. In return Rotorua A&P will generously continue to sponsor our alpaca show on Anniversary weekend.
Judge Profile - Jillian Elwers (Level 2 Judge)
Jillian has run her stud since 1998 and has been successfully been showing and breeding a herd of approximately 100 suri and huacaya alpacas of all colours in Victoria.
Jillian commenced alpaca judging in 2012. She attained her level 2 status in 2014. She has judged many shows across Australia and is a keen advocate that showing is to be fun and educational for both exhibitors and spectators.
In addition to her alpaca passion and judging, Jillian has two teenage sons to help keep her busy with their motorbike racing, soccer, and air force cadet commitments. She breeds and shows British bulldogs and Bengal cats. Jillian is a qualified dog and cat groomer and runs her own grooming salon and shop.
